THE
GENESIS OF TRLFC
“Rhema”
–
The revealed and/or relevant Word of God.
The word “Rhema”
is a derivative of the word “Ramah” in scripture (1
Samuel 1:19). It is used to identify a chief city
of Palestine. The nuance of the same word in the
New Testament translation speaks specifically
concerning God’s method of revealing His Word to
mankind in direct communication. A Rhema Life is a
spirit-filled life, governed by the teaching of
God’s Word, bearing the Fruit of the Spirit
admonished in Galatians 5:22.
July
2002:
While
serving as Assistant Pastor at the Heritage
Fellowship Church in northern Virginia, Pastor
Thomas was called by God to relocate to Dallas,
Texas to organize a ministry in the Plano, Allen and
McKinney areas. While studying the demo-graphics of
each particular city, Pastor Thomas was led by God
to title the ministry plant, “The PAM Project”,
focusing on the three targeted cities.
August 3, 2002
A core
group, “The Ministry Connection Team” was
assembled. The purpose of the core group was to
plan and strategize for ministry. These were
Christians serving at various churches throughout
the Dallas area, and were willing to offer their
prayers and support for an extended period of time.
The team consisted of seven families and began with
Saturday night Bible study in Pastor Thomas’ home in
McKinney, Texas.
April 6, 2003
Public worship services were held at the Radisson
Hotel in Richardson, Texas. All meetings and Bible
studies were conducted in the lobby or a designated
area.
June
1, 2003
RLFC moved into the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church
Chapel, located at 1310 Avenue I, in Plano, Texas,
where the Reverend Isiah Joshua Jr served as
pastor. As the ministry began to grow, the
attendance increased to an average of twenty-five to
thirty per Sunday. New service times were
immediately implemented: 9 a.m. Sunday morning
worship service, and 7 p.m. Tuesday night Bible
study.
March 1, 2005
RLFC
moved to the current location, 3801 K Avenue, Plano,
Texas 75074. Since the transition into this worship
facility, membership has tripled, with ongoing
commitments each Sunday. Additional ministries have
been implemented to accommodate members and
non-members within the Plano community and
surrounding area.
